OTENET provides ISDN access (calling 8962545555) from all nodes.

My modem is 56K but it connects at 33,6K or less.
In order to establish a 56K connection:
1) Your phone center must be digital (ie Tone Dial)
2) The distance between your home and the phone center must be 3-5 klm
3) The phone center and your phone line must be in a good condition
4) Confirm that your modem is compatible with the same protocol that OTENET supports (V90/K56 flex).
Modems with technology X2 cannot be supported
5) Un Plug other devices (fax, phone, ) from the telephone line even if they are located in a different room.
6) Connect the telephone line (wire) directly to you modem without a line splitter.
7) Check to see if you have the latest drivers installed for you modem.

Errors during connection

The usual errors which you may face are :

Error 633 (The modem is already in use or is not configured for dialing out)

Error 711 (The Remote Access Service Manager could not start)

What does the message: "You are connected at 38400, 57600 or 115200 bps" really mean?
This speed is associated with the rhythm in which data is transmitted from your modem to the serial port of your computer and doesn't indicate the speed of the connection established.
To see the actual connection speed, type ATW2 or AT&F1 (for USRobotics modems) in the extra settings field.

When is the best point in time to download files quickly?
Opt for early hours (6:00am-9:00am) where both OTENET and international traffic is low because of the time difference.

I am connected at 42000 bps but I download with a lower speed than when I am connected at 33600bps.
At a higher speed the possibility of packets being lost increases (unless the quality of your phone line is very good).
